My Mission Statement!!I'm in Croatia with three principal aims: 1. To buy a house for us to live in in the not too distant future - ideally this will be an old stone house with enough land and out buildings to enable us to do holiday lets 2. To learn the language. I think this will be probably the most difficult of the three - I've been taking classes in the UK for the past 6 months and I still can't even say one sentence without a half dozen errors! 3. To find investment properties, both for us and for other people that have expressed an interest in the place. Obviously I also intend to have a good time and take time off from work in a hot country meeting lots of new people, drinking good wine and eating good, fresh food.
About meNo need to say much here. Originally I studied Modern Languages (French and German) at Manchester University, then I worked in Trade Finance for several years, including a spell in Dusseldorf, where I met my wife, Alison. After that we came back to London in 1993, I did a conversion MSc in computer science and have been working as a computer programmer ever since. Alison works at Goldman Sachs in Fleet Street and she will be joining me out in Croatia a couple of times for a week or so. We have bought and sold several flats in London and are using the proceeds of the sales as our funds for our investment abroad. When I get back to London I intend to work free-lance as a computer programmer, hopefully specialising in database applications, Sybase or MS SQL.
